Dipoles

RadiaBeam has a variety of dipole magnet designs suitable for a range of particle beam applications. Our dipoles can be used as stand-alone bending magnets, or as part of a chicane compressor or spectrometer system. All the dipoles are subject to thorough numerical analysis at the regime of operation specified by the customer, including non-linearity of the response, fringe field effects, and edge focusing characteristics.

Additional trim coils are available to simplify the degaussing routine and for fine beam manipulations. A custom vacuum chamber can be incorporated upon request.

EMD-01-100-925

The EMD-01-100-925 is a 90° spectrometer dipole idea for 4-7 MeV electron beams. It was originally designed for use as a spectrometer for an FEL photoinjector but is useful in various other applications.

 

It features a 1 inch (25.4 mm) gap and a 35,000 Gs•cm integrated field. Chambers are available as well.

Basic Dipole Stand

Our dipole stands are available in cost-effective 3-point kinematic platforms or more precise 6-point ball-end platforms.

EMD-01-177-630

Our EMD-01-177-630 dipole is a compact C-frame dipole with excellent linearity. It also has excellent field quality despite its large gap-to-length ratio, making it suitable for lowe-energy and small emittance beams.

Spectrometer Dipoles

Large dynamic range energy spectrometers can be developed that include imaging optics and diagnostics. Higher field value magnets are available in a water-cooled configuration.

EMD-01-130-1088

The EMD-01-130-1088 is a round-pole spectrometer featuring a 0.1777 T•m integrated field and a 1.3 inch (3.3 cm) gap. Its large field makes it ideal for high-energy spectrometry applications.

 

Air-cooled coils are standard, but a water-cooled option is available.

EMD-01-201-787

The EMD-01-201-787 is a 2.01 inch gap H-frame dipole with a 2000 Gauss peak field and a 30.9 cm magnetic length. Featuring a nickel-plated yoke, air-cooled coils, and pole-shaping, the EMD-01-201-787 is an attractive option for medium energy applications, including dog-legs and chicanes.

EMD-01-100-1800

The EMD-01-100-1800 is a 90° spectrometer ideal for ~140 MeV electron beams. It is in use at an XFEL injector test facility for the precision diagnosis of the longitudinal phase space in conjuction with our S-Band TVAC. It features a 1 inch (25.4 mm) gap and a 256,000 Gs•cm integrated field.

 

Water-cooled coils are standard, but a forced-air cooled option is available.

EMD-02-201-787

The EDM-02-201-787 is the EDM-01-201-787's bigger brother. With the same 2.01 inch gap, this H-frame has a 3000 Gauss peak field and the same 30.9 cm magnetic length. The yoke and coils are larger than that of the EMD-01-201-787 to accomodate the larger fields.
