Quadrupoles

We make air and water-cooled quadrupole magnets in a variety of configurations, individually designed to meet your needs. Our offerings include various geometries, including diamond, combined-function diamond, round, and octagonal. A selection of pre-engineered quadrupoles is shown below but we specialize in custom designs regardless of the quantity.

Custom Water-Cooled Quad

We offer a wide variety of water-cooled quadrupoles. When requesting a quote, please let us know the required bore diameter, gradient, and magnetic length (or integrated gradient). Please also let us know if there are any size restrictions or special requests for facility integration.

Round Quadrupoles

Our round quads are the most compact transverse and longitudinal design for small footprint applications. Unlike diamond and octagonal quads, this design does not scale to larger bore sizes; yet, it is very popular for compact beamlines, utilizing standard 1 and 1.5 inch diameter vacuum tubes. Its round geometry is the most symmetric geometry available and allows for superior multipole purity.

Custom Round Quad

Our round quads are the most compact transverse and longitudinal design for small footprint applications. Unlike diamond and octagonal quads,this design does not scale economically to larger bore sizes; yet, it is very popular for compact beamlines, utilizing standard 1.5 inch (40mm) diameter vacuum tubes.

The compact size of the EMQR-01-158-240 makes it ideal for photoinjector beamlines where space is at a premium. With a 1.58 in (40.1 mm) bore, it is well matched to our 1.6 cell photoinjector and its small transverse footprint makes it compatible with congested beamlines.

Octagonal Quadrupoles

A popular quadrupole model designed for high gradients, low multipole content, and compact size, our octagon quadrupoles are more cost-effective than our round quads. A variety of bore sizes and coil packs are available to suit the demands of all beamlines with space-constrained beamlines.

Custom Combined Function Quad

Combined Function Quadrupoles

It is often advantageous to extend the quadrupole functionality to include beam steering capabilities. In this case, in addition to focusing coils, there are individually powered steering coils attached to the pole pieces. Such a design enables independent control of the focusing gradient, as well as horizontal and vertical steering fields in a single optical element. RadiaBeam designs and builds combined function magnets to customer specifications. We also offer iron-free PCB steering magnets.

Water-Cooled Quadrupole

Our water-cooled quadrupoles are expertly designed, carefully fabricated, and extensively tested. We offer coils with integral coiling channels as well as cooling plates. All water-cooled magnets come fully assembled, with power terminals, water manifolds, and temperature switches.
